Dhurandhar Shatters Records with 7.6 Million Views on Netflix Premiere

Filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s latest project, Dhurandhar, has set remarkable records since its release. Following its impressive performance at the box office, the film made its debut on Netflix on January 30, where it achieved significant viewership milestones, surpassing several major releases.

Dhurandhar garnered an impressive 7.6 million views in its opening weekend, making it the first post-theatrical Hindi film in India to cross the 7-million mark. This achievement placed it ahead of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, which previously held the record with 6.2 million views. Other notable films like Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule attracted 5.9 million and 5 million views, respectively.

The film’s performance extended beyond initial viewership. According to data from Tudum, Dhurandhar dominated the worldwide Top 10 list of non-English films, reaching audiences across seven countries. It amassed a staggering 26.1 million hours of viewing time and also gained popularity in Pakistan, where its theatrical release had been banned.

Dhurandhar is a spy action thriller directed by Aditya Dhar, featuring Ranveer Singh in the role of an Indian spy tasked with infiltrating gangs in Pakistan’s Lyari to dismantle a terror network aimed at India. The film’s ensemble cast includes Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan, along with Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in supporting roles. It achieved a remarkable milestone at the box office, collecting over ₹1300 crore globally and becoming the first Bollywood film to surpass ₹1000 crore in domestic earnings.

Anticipation is building for the sequel, titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge, where Ranveer Singh will reprise his role alongside returning actors Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan. The sequel is slated for theatrical release on March 19, 2026, coinciding with the premiere of Yash’s upcoming film, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups.
