Bollywood actor Sunny Deol’s new film, Border 2, premiered in theaters on January 23 and has garnered positive reviews. The film is performing well commercially, leading to a special screening in Mumbai on January 25, which was attended by Sunny’s half-sisters, Esha and Ahana Deol. Following the screening, Esha praised her brother’s performance.
Esha Deol took to Instagram on Monday to share images from the Border 2 screening, featuring herself alongside Sunny and Ahana. One picture highlights her posing with a poster of the film. In her post, she encouraged fans to watch Border 2 with loved ones, expressing her admiration for Sunny and other cast members, including Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh.
In addition to her film-related posts, Esha expressed her joy regarding their late father, actor Dharmendra, receiving the Padma Vibhushan Award. She celebrated this recognition on Republic Day, reflecting pride in her father’s achievements.
The screening of Border 2 helped dispel rumors of a family rift following Dharmendra’s passing. Speculation arose about tensions between Sunny, Bobby, and Hema Malini’s family after separate memorials were held for the veteran actor. Despite initial reports, Hema has denied any family discord. The occasion marked Sunny’s first public appearance with his sisters since their father’s death in November.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 serves as a sequel to J. P. Dutta’s acclaimed 1997 film, Border. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J. P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, the film is set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan war. In addition to Sunny, the cast features Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, and others in significant roles.
Border 2 has been well-received by both audiences and critics, achieving impressive box office success. Within just three days, the film grossed ₹121 crore in India and ₹158.5 crore globally, underscoring its commercial viability.
