Raju Weds Rambai, a Telugu film featuring Tejaswi Rao and Akhil Raj, has debuted on OTT after its successful theatrical run. Announced via Instagram, the film is now streaming on ETV Win.
Released in theaters on November 21, Raju Weds Rambai is inspired by a real-life story set in a small village in Telangana. The movie garnered ₹21 crore globally at the box office according to Cinema Express and premiered on ETV Win on December 18, also available on OTTplay Premium.
The film follows the love story between Raju, portrayed by Akhil Uddemari, and Rambai, played by Tejaswi Rao. Rambai is the daughter of Venkanna, a compounder at the local government hospital, who disapproves of her relationship with Raju because he prefers his daughter to marry a government employee. Faced with obstacles, Raju and Rambai ultimately decide to elope. Both actors have received positive feedback for their performances.
Tejaswi Rao shared her enthusiasm about working with director Sailu Kampati and co-star Akhil Uddemari. At the announcement event, she expressed her affection for her character, Rambai, noting that the project holds a special place in her heart. She emphasized the film’s potential to resonate with audiences, stating, “You will fall in love with our efforts.”
Director Sailu Kampati has actively promoted Raju Weds Rambai, expressing pride in its village setting. He acknowledges the film’s portrayal of real-life experiences, distancing it from typical cinematic tropes. “Some people say this is just another village story. Yes, I am from a village, and I love my village, its people,” he remarked.
Kampati’s commitment to telling authentic stories shines through, as he explained that his narrative does not involve flamboyant heroes but rather relatable characters like auto drivers and college students. He acknowledged that not everyone would appreciate his work but urged viewers to refrain from spreading negativity. In a bold declaration, he challenged himself, saying he would “walk in just my underwear” if the film did not do well at the box office.
The film’s storyline, performances, and the director’s vision unify to create a compelling narrative that captures the essence of village life. As audiences delve into Raju Weds Rambai, they may find an engaging blend of romance and realistic challenges that define relationships in contemporary society.
