Fans React to DC Teaser: Mixed Feelings on Violence and Praise for Anirudh’s Score

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for his noteworthy films like Leo, Coolie, and Vikram, is making his acting debut in the film DC, which is directed by Arun Matheswaran. A teaser for the movie was unveiled by the producers, Sun Pictures, on Valentine’s Day, creating a buzz among audiences. The film is centered around a harrowing story of revenge, setting a dark tone that has evidently shocked many viewers.

The teaser highlights the three main characters: Sanjana AK as Parvathy, Lokesh Kanagaraj as Devadas, and Wamiqa Gabbi as Chandra. This adaptation of the classic love story of Devdas is reimagined in a brutal setting characterized by gang wars and violence. One notable scene features Lokesh’s character in a fierce confrontation, utilizing a blade, along with several dramatic shootings that intensify the film’s grim narrative.

Reactions to the teaser have been mixed. Some viewers criticized the reliance on graphic violence, with one commenting that it detracts from emotional storytelling, while another expressed fatigue over the repetitive themes of bloodshed in Tamil cinema. Comments pointed out that such extreme portrayals may discourage some from enjoying the film.

In contrast, the film’s background score by Anirudh received widespread acclaim. Many fans praised his musical composition, highlighting it as a strong point of the teaser. Enthusiastic remarks included comments about Anirudh’s ability to continually impress, with one user eagerly anticipating the film’s release after hearing the captivating score.

In terms of development, DC was brought to life by Arun, who also collaborated with Arun Ranjan for the screenplay and Franklin Jacob for dialogues. This film marks a significant transition for Lokesh, who has primarily worked behind the camera until now. Previously, he made brief appearances in Master and Singapore Saloon, and he is set to direct a high-stakes action film starring Allu Arjun, with production expected to begin later this year.

Wamiqa Gabbi, who portrays a key role in DC, was recently featured in the film Bhool Chuk Maaf and has an exciting lineup of upcoming projects including G2, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, and Genie. As anticipation builds for DC, the combination of Lokesh’s multi-faceted involvement and the film’s ambitious narrative promises an intriguing addition to Tamil cinema.
