Hema Malini Reflects on Dharmendra’s Birth Anniversary with Heartfelt Tribute

Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, beloved by many, passed away on November 24, just weeks shy of his 90th birthday. The news of his death has left a profound impact on his family and fans alike. On this poignant occasion of his birth anniversary, his wife, the renowned actress and politician Hema Malini, took a moment to reflect on their shared memories.

Hema Malini shared her heartfelt thoughts on social media, exuding both sorrow and gratitude. Accompanied by cherished photographs, she expressed, “Dharam ji, happy birthday, my dear heart. More than two weeks have passed since you left me heartbroken. I am slowly gathering up the pieces and trying to reconstruct my life, knowing that you will always be with me in spirit.” In her note, she emphasized that the joyful memories of their time together continue to bring her comfort.

Continuing her tribute, Hema reminisced about their life together, offering thanks for their years spent side by side and for their two daughters, Esha and Ahana. She referred to these daughters as symbols of their enduring love, affirming that the beautiful memories they created will forever reside in her heart. On this special day, she extended her prayers, wishing for Dharmendra to find peace and happiness, commending his humility and kindness.

Hema and Dharmendra emerged as one of the most iconic on-screen couples of the 1970s, captivating audiences in numerous films such as “Sharafat,” “Tum Haseen Main Jawan,” “Naya Zamana,” “Seeta Aur Geeta,” “Raja Jani,” and the legendary “Sholay.” Their on-screen chemistry sparked off-screen rumors of romance, despite the complexities surrounding their relationship. Initially, Hema’s mother was opposed to their union due to Dharmendra’s prior marriage. Nevertheless, after seven years of love, the couple wed in 1980 and welcomed two daughters.

The couple enjoyed a long and cherished marriage until Dharmendra’s passing at the age of 89. He had been dealing with health issues and was hospitalized shortly before his death, which occurred at their family home in Juhu. His cremation took place at Pawan Hans Crematorium, attended by close family members. The Bollywood community, including prominent figures such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan, expressed their grief over the loss of this veteran actor who left an indelible mark on the industry.

As we remember Dharmendra on this significant day, it’s essential to acknowledge the legacy he leaves behind in cinema and the heartfelt memories he created with those closest to him.
