Punjabi actress Himanshi Khurana has filed a complaint with the Mohali police over an alleged extortion threat. She reported receiving a demand for ₹10 crore from a foreign-based gangster, raising serious concerns regarding her safety.
Authorities confirmed that an FIR has been registered based on Khurana’s complaint. The actress reported that the threat came via an email, which led police to take immediate action.
The FIR was logged under sections pertaining to extortion and criminal intimidation as outlined in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Mohali police responded swiftly, indicating that they are treating the matter with urgency.
Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Saurav Jindal, provided insights into the threat, noting that the email included a voice note allegedly from the gangster making the extortion demand. Investigative efforts are underway to trace the source of both the email and the voice message.
In light of these developments, police officials have assured the public that further actions will be taken in accordance with legal protocols. Meanwhile, Khurana, widely recognized for her role in the 2013 film Sadda Haq, has also made a name for herself in music videos and reality television, notably participating in the thirteenth season of Bigg Boss.
This incident follows a similar complaint lodged last month by Punjabi singer Dilnoor, who reported threats against popular singer B Praak, also demanding ₹10 crore. The recently escalating threats within the Punjabi entertainment industry underscore growing concerns over safety and security for its prominent figures.
