How Much Do Entrepreneurs Invest to Join Shark Tank India? Insights from Aman Gupta

The reality television series Shark Tank India has become a staple for aspiring entrepreneurs since its debut in 2021. One of the prominent figures on the judging panel is Aman Gupta, who recently shared insights about his experience on the show and clarified some popular misconceptions regarding the sharks.

In a discussion with Humans of Bombay, Aman addressed the ongoing speculation about whether entrepreneurs pay to appear as permanent or guest sharks. He noted that while he has never made such payments, he believes that some participants may become sponsors of the show as part of their involvement. This clarification offers a glimpse into the dynamics of the show and the roles that various participants play.

Aman also revealed a personal preference when it comes to his fellow judges, stating that his favorite shark is Namita Thapar. He acknowledged that he does not have a favorable opinion of all the sharks, indicating a competitive but lively environment among the judges.

Recently, Aman has been in the spotlight for stepping down from his role as the chief marketing officer (CMO) of boAt Lifestyle, the electronics brand he co-founded. Despite this shift in position, he remains an integral part of the company as a director and promoter. In his explanation for this decision, Aman emphasized that the company has reached a pivotal stage and that it is time for professionally run management to guide it into its next growth phase.

Shark Tank India serves as the Indian counterpart to the popular American series of the same name. Entrepreneurs vying for investment present their business ideas to a panel of investors, often referred to as sharks. The latest season of the show premiered on January 5, 2026, featuring a diverse panel that includes Anupam Mittal, Namita Thapar, and Kunal Bahl, among others. The series showcases the journey of various businesses and is available for streaming on SonyLIV.

This unique blend of entertainment and entrepreneurship continues to captivate audiences across India, offering insights into the challenges and triumphs that come with starting and managing a business in today’s competitive landscape.
