How Vijay Ganguly Persuaded Aditya Dhar to Retain Shararat in Dhurandhar

Dhurandhar, the much-acclaimed film, has captivated audiences not just for its direction, action, and storyline, but also for its soundtrack. One of the standout tracks, “Shararat,” almost didn’t make it into the final cut. Filmmaker Aditya Dhar admitted he had reservations about including the song until choreographer Vijay Ganguly influenced his decision.

In a recent Instagram post, Aditya praised Vijay as a “choreographer par excellence.” He acknowledged that Vijay’s instinct leads him to create choreography that resonates with the music. Aditya noted that what set Vijay apart was his director-like thinking, which ultimately streamlined the filmmaking process. He attributed this talent to Vijay’s heritage as the son of famed choreographer Anil Ganguly.

Aditya further recounted the creation process of “Shararat.” Initially hesitant about featuring a lip-sync dance track, he was encouraged by Vijay’s enthusiasm. That encouragement inspired both him and composer Shashwat Sachdev to create one of the film’s highlights. Aditya expressed gratitude for Vijay’s dedication, stating that even during challenging times, his positivity fostered a lighthearted atmosphere on set.

The track “Shararat” has gained popularity, thanks in part to its infectious hookstep that has gone viral on social media. Composed by Shashwat Sachdev and performed by Madhubanti Bagchi and Jasmine Sandlas, the song features Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza dancing at the wedding of Ranveer Singh’s and Sara Ali Khan’s characters.

Dhurandhar has achieved remarkable success, emerging as a major blockbuster. Featuring a star-studded cast, including Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt, the film’s first part was released in December and grossed over ₹1300 crore globally. Following the release of the second part on March 19, it quickly surpassed the first installment’s earnings. As of now, the film has amassed ₹1100 crore net in India and more than ₹1700 crore worldwide, solidifying its place in cinematic history.
