Imtiaz Ali and Diljit Dosanjh Release New Track ‘Kya Kamaal Hai’

A new song titled “Kya Kamaal Hai,” featuring filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, reflects themes of unity and hope in challenging times. This release comes from their upcoming film “Main Vaapas Aaunga.”

The collaboration marks the second time Ali and Dosanjh have worked together, following their successful project “Amar Singh Chamkila” released in 2024. The film also sees the return of music composer A R Rahman and lyricist Irshad Kamil, both of whom have been long-time collaborators with Ali.

Imtiaz Ali characterized “Kya Kamaal Hai” as a song of hope, especially poignant given the current global uncertainties. He noted that today, as many face insecurity and chaos, the song resonates with historical echoes of the 1947 partition, which, while painful, also embodies stories of enduring love.

Diljit Dosanjh emphasized the song’s quality of stillness amidst surrounding turmoil. He mentioned that in a world filled with noise, “Kya Kamaal Hai” invites listeners to slow down and be present in the moment.

A R Rahman expressed that collaborating with Ali and Kamil felt like continuing a meaningful conversation. He highlighted that the film addresses themes of separation and displacement, aiming to create music that resonates in a time filled with global unrest.

Irshad Kamil described the song as a “soul-soother,” envisioning a world free from pain and conflict. His intention is for the song to provide comfort and hope to listeners.

“Main Vaapas Aaunga,” set against the backdrop of the 1947 partition, features a talented ensemble cast including Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari Wagh, and Vedang Raina. Produced by Applause Entertainment and Window Seat Films, the film is scheduled for release in cinemas on June 12.
