India’s Top-Grossing Studio Shatters Records Without a ₹1000 Crore Hit

India’s film industry is not just about the stars who grace the screens; it’s also about the production houses that invest heavily in creating blockbusters. One standout name is T-Series, which has remarkably dominated the Indian box office despite not having a single ₹1000-crore hit film. The production house has amassed over ₹5000 crore in earnings since its inception.

According to insights from Marketing Mind, T-Series leads the Indian film market with net earnings of ₹5697 crore derived from 117 films. This figure represents the overall earnings at the domestic box office, excluding international revenues. While T-Series has many films under its banner, its highest-grossing project remains “Animal,” which generated ₹915 crore globally, including ₹553 crore from India.

Founded by Gulshan Kumar in the 1980s, T-Series initially focused on music production before branching into film during the 1990s. Today, under the stewardship of Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, T-Series stands as a film production powerhouse.

Yash Raj Films ranks second among Indian production houses, with ₹4924 crore earned from 76 films. Following closely is Dharma Productions, which has grossed ₹4569 crore from 62 films. Notably, both of these competitors have achieved a higher per-film average compared to T-Series, further highlighting T-Series’ strategy of producing a greater volume of films to increase potential box office returns.

The list of top-grossing production houses includes other notable players such as Nadiadwala Grandson and Eros, alongside newer entrants like Maddock Films and Jio Studios. Additionally, major Hollywood studios have made their mark in the Indian market through partnerships with local companies, as seen with Fox Star Studios and Disney India.

Looking ahead, T-Series has several exciting projects lined up. Following a successful 2025, marked by hits like “Tere Ishq Mein,” “De De Pyaar De 2,” and “Raid 2,” the production house is set to kick off 2026 with the highly anticipated “Border 2.” Other upcoming films include “Dhamaal 4,” “Pati Patni Aur Woh Do,” and the much-talked-about “Spirit,” starring Prabhas. With an ambitious slate and a solid track record, T-Series aims to continue its dominance in the competitive landscape of Indian cinema.
