As excitement grows for the upcoming sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, a personal encounter shared by filmmaker Karan Johar has added to the buzz. During the film’s international promotional tour in Tokyo, Johar had the opportunity to meet the iconic Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, both of whom starred in the original film.

Karan took to Instagram to showcase the moment with a heartfelt post. He expressed his admiration for Meryl Streep, stating, “This is not a caption. This is a confession. I am singularly obsessed and inspired by the unmatchable brilliance of Meryl Streep.” He went on to reveal that he has watched The Devil Wears Prada nearly 47 times and has quoted its lines in various settings. Sharing his overwhelming excitement, he admitted that despite trying to remain calm, he was visibly nervous.

In his post, he described Streep and Hathaway as warm and welcoming. He humorously noted that this memorable picture would be a cherished part of his legacy, sharing that there is still more to come from his interactions with the film’s stars.

Johar’s post attracted enthusiastic responses from fellow celebrities. Ananya Pandey expressed her admiration with a heart-eyes emoji, while Neha Dhupia acknowledged the significance of the moment for Johar, referring to it as a blend of fashion and cinematic dreams. Punit Malhotra added a light-hearted remark, suggesting that Meryl Streep must have felt pleased to meet the character she portrayed, and Neeraj Ghaywan commented on fulfilling a bucket list dream.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 promises to bring back the original cast, along with director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna. The sequel will introduce a new ensemble of characters, including notable actors such as Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, and Lucy Liu. The film also sees the return of Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman in their roles from the first installment.
