Former actress Kalpana Iyer opens up about her exit from the entertainment industry

Actor Kalpana Iyer recently re-emerged in the public eye with a viral video of her dancing to her hit song “Ramba Ho.” In a candid interview, she discussed her departure from the entertainment industry and her openness to return to acting.

Kalpana expressed her dissatisfaction with the changing landscape of television during her career. She felt increasingly out of place among established cliques and was unhappy with the roles she was offered. This prompted her decision to step back, as she believed there was little point in pursuing work that did not resonate with her.

When asked if she sought assistance from her former co-star Salman Khan, Kalpana clarified that she did not reach out to anyone for help. She mentioned the accessibility of Dubai, noting that if someone truly wanted to help, they would be able to find her. She emphasized a belief in self-worth and indicated that she did not blame others for her circumstances, preferring to maintain a positive outlook.

Since then, Kalpana has received inquiries regarding participation in reality shows and the types of projects she is interested in pursuing. Her recent dance video has ignited renewed interest in her career, highlighting her connection to “Ramba Ho,” which was a chart-topping song featured in the film Dhurandhar.

Kalpana’s career in Indian cinema spanned the 1980s and 1990s, with notable films including Satte Pe Satta, Hum Paanch, and Anjaam. She gained popularity for her role as Sangeeta in the acclaimed film Hum Saath Saath Hain. After her last screen appearance in the 1999 film Dil Hi Dil Mein, Kalpana chose to step back from acting.

Following her exit from the industry, she relocated to Dubai and continued to be involved in television, appearing in several popular series from the early 1990s, including Kashish and Margarita. Kalpana Iyer’s return to the spotlight signals a potential revival of her acting career, with opportunities for new roles on the horizon.
