Actor and model Mandana Karimi, originally from Tehran, has recently expressed her views on the ongoing conflict in West Asia, particularly highlighting her support for the US and Israel. She directed her criticism toward fellow actor Boman Irani after he shared a satirical video about former President Donald Trump wanting to meet Iranians for peace talks.
In her comment on Irani’s post, Karimi pointed out the delayed concern regarding Iran, referencing the years of turmoil, arrests, and deaths that have affected many. She noted the timing of the video and questioned why voices like Irani’s were absent during years of crisis for the Iranian people. “For years, Iranians have been getting arrested, executed, silenced. Thousands killed. Families torn apart,” she stated.
Karimi reminded Irani of his Parsi roots and the historical connection they share to Iran. She expressed disappointment in the perceived hypocrisy of suddenly addressing the issue now that it has broader political implications. “Sir, with all respect, you and the Parsi community come from Iran. So where was this voice when Iranians were dying?” she asked, emphasizing that it’s too late to speak up only when it affects global politics.
Although Irani did not respond to her direct comment, several users reacted by suggesting that her criticism was misplaced and reminded her that his content was meant to be humorous. Karimi, however, elaborated on her stance, asserting that ignoring suffering while focusing on gas prices is a form of hypocrisy. She took the opportunity to share her personal history, having lived under the current Iranian regime for 18 years and facing arrests and violations herself. “I’ve lived through things you will never fully understand,” she remarked, highlighting her family’s ongoing struggles in Iran.
Irani’s original video featured a comedic take on the absurdity of Trump wanting to reach out to Iranians, where he joked about having conversations over traditional Parsi foods during a potential visit. This light-hearted approach, however, drew criticism from Karimi, who believed that addressing such serious matters with humor can diminish the real pain experienced by those in affected regions. Many in the comments found the video entertaining, but Karimi’s response spotlighted the stark difference in perspectives regarding the current state of affairs in Iran.
