YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia recently reflected on a challenging period in his life, particularly the controversy surrounding the show “India’s Got Latent” last year. He labeled the incident as a “kaand,” noting that very few people offered support during that time, with actor John Abraham being one of the few reaching out to him.
In a new vlog featuring filmmaker Farah Khan, Ranveer revisited the backlash he faced following the episode. When asked about the controversy, he described the incident as a significant setback. “My podcast was stopped after that; I had to bear a lot. I just pray to God to return my work,” he shared, expressing his desire for opportunities to resume shooting.
Farah Khan encouraged him to learn from his experiences, advising him, “Never waste a good failure, always work from it. Put your head down and work.” In response, Ranveer highlighted the support he received from others in the industry. John Abraham notably reached out to provide guidance during the tumultuous time, emphasizing that such situations are common in the media landscape. He also mentioned receiving calls from personalities like Sonu Nigam, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Reflecting on his journey, Ranveer acknowledged the forced break he experienced after six intense years of podcasting. “I couldn’t change the past, but I could change the future. I’ve been trying to move on, forgive many people, including myself, and I believe I’ve made some progress,” he stated.
The controversy stemmed from comments Ranveer made while appearing on Samay Raina’s show, which aired in February of the previous year. His remarks about parents and sex sparked significant backlash, resulting in multiple FIRs against him and his co-panelists. Accusations included promoting obscenity and engaging in explicit discussions that were publicly accessible, leading to intense public criticism.
As a consequence of the backlash, Ranveer was initially barred from uploading content on his channel. However, the Supreme Court later permitted him to resume his podcast, “The Ranveer Show,” in March. In response to the incident, he posted an apology video where he admitted that his comments were inappropriate and not humorous. Additionally, he issued a formal written apology to the National Commission for Women regarding his remarks made during the show.
