The film “Dhurandhar,” directed by Aditya Dhar and featuring Ranveer Singh, has made headlines due to its impressive box office performance. As of day 22, it has crossed the remarkable ₹1000 crore milestone globally, positioning itself as the ninth highest-grossing Indian film to date.
Recent reports from Jio Studios announce that the film achieved the ₹1000 crore mark on Thursday, although trade sources suggest that it may have officially surpassed it on Friday. Regardless of the date, “Dhurandhar” has cemented its place as the ninth Indian film and fourth Bollywood film to reach this landmark. Notably, it is the only Bollywood release not featuring a Khan actor in this prestigious club. By Friday night, domestic earnings were reported at ₹648.50 crore net (₹778 crore gross), setting a record as the highest-grossing Bollywood film in India, overtaking “Jawan,” which previously held the title with ₹640 crore net.
Internationally, “Dhurandhar” has seen a surge in collections, particularly in the last two weeks, raking in over $25 million from overseas markets. This brings its total global earnings to ₹1003 crore, though the filmmakers assert that the actual figure is closer to ₹1020 crore.
As the film continues to garner attention, predictions suggest that by Sunday, “Dhurandhar” could surpass the lifetime collections of “Kalki 2898 AD” (₹1042 crore) and “Pathaan” (₹1056 crore), making it the seventh highest-grossing Indian film. Its next target will be to overtake “Jawan” (₹1160 crore), although surpassing “KGF Chapter 2” or “RRR,” both of which have exceeded ₹1200 crore, may prove challenging.
“Dhurandhar” presents a gripping narrative, with Ranveer Singh portraying Hamza, an Indian operative infiltrating the criminal underworld of Karachi. The film also features notable actors such as Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan in significant roles. A sequel is set to be released in March 2026, further heightening interest in the franchise.
