Ranveer Singh’s Multiple Vanity Vans: Truth Behind Viral Rumors

Aditya Dhar’s film Dhurandhar recently debuted on Netflix, prompting viewers to delve deeper into the film’s nuances, including its dialogues and end credits. An intriguing claim surfaced on Reddit, suggesting that lead actor Ranveer Singh utilized three vanity vans during filming. This assertion reignited conversations about the costs associated with actors’ entourages in large-scale productions. However, Hindustan Times reached out to industry sources to investigate this claim, which turned out to be based on a misunderstanding.

The discussion originated from a Reddit post featuring a screenshot of the film’s end credits, listing three vehicles associated with Singh’s character, Hamza: Hamza van, Hamza staff van, and Hamza normal van. This led many to assume excessive spending on luxury transportation for the actor.

Despite the viral nature of the claim, a representative from the production clarified with Hindustan Times that the term “van” actually referred to standard vehicles rather than luxury vanity vans. These vehicles were employed during filming in Thailand, where they were essential for transporting crew members. The source elaborated that “These were Thai vans mentioned in the end credits from Dhurandhar’s Bangkok shoot, which entailed a long shooting schedule. One vanity and two Thai vans were used to manage travel for the actor, staff, and equipment across various shooting locations.”

The Bangkok shoot involved considerable outdoor filming, necessitating efficient transportation logistics. Ranveer Singh’s demanding filming schedule further contributed to the need for an organized support system on set.

Dhurandhar and its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, were shot concurrently, with the original plan being a single film. The source emphasized that Singh required ample staff due to the intensity of the filming schedule and his physical transformation for the role.

“Even in the teaser, viewers can observe two distinct character arcs alongside Ranveer’s significant transformation,” the source noted. “He sometimes lost about 15 kgs and gained 25 kgs within just months, often filming for 12 to 14 hours daily. For actors undertaking such drastic physical changes, facilities like a gym and private chefs are typically necessary to meet production deadlines.” The source clarified that Singh was not afforded anything beyond what was essential for his role.

In Dhurandhar, Singh portrays Jaskirat Singh Rangi, an Indian spy who disguises himself as a Baloch man named Hamza. His mission involves infiltrating gangs in Lyari to dismantle their connections to terrorism. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film features a notable cast, including Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal.

Currently, Ranveer Singh is anticipating the release of Dhurandhar 2. The teaser launched earlier this week offers insights into his character’s background, generating excitement as the film is set to premiere in theaters on March 19.
