Struggling Dhurandhar 2 Earns ₹4 Crore as Bhooth Bangla Dominates Box Office

Aditya Dhar’s action-packed spy thriller, Dhurandhar 2, has captured significant attention since its release, with Ranveer Singh leading the cast. Initially, the film experienced an impressive run at the box office, becoming one of the year’s top earners. However, its success appears to be waning with the arrival of competing films such as Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla.

Recent reports indicate that Dhurandhar 2 has generated collections of ₹4.65 crore on its 31st day in theaters. While this figure marks a slight increase from Friday’s earnings of ₹2.70 crore, the overall trend shows a decline in audience turnout. The film’s total collection so far in India has reached ₹1328.46 crore, with a net of ₹1110.47 crore.

The competition from Bhooth Bangla, a horror-comedy featuring Akshay Kumar and Tabu, is notable. The latter film has taken a significant number of screens, earning over ₹15 crore in its second day. This shift in audience preference may be contributing to the slowdown in Dhurandhar 2’s box office performance.

Dhurandhar 2 has set remarkable records, surpassing the lifetime collections of other major films like RRR (₹782.20 crore), KGF: Chapter 2 (₹859.70 crore), and several others. Earlier this month, it made headlines as the first Bollywood film to surpass ₹1000 crore at the Indian box office.

Released on March 19, alongside Hindi and South Indian languages, Dhurandhar 2 serves as a sequel to the original film. The narrative follows Ranveer Singh’s character, an Indian spy infiltrating gangs in Lyari to thwart terror networks. It dives into intelligence operations against a backdrop of real-life geopolitical events, such as the Kandahar plane hijack and the Mumbai attacks.

In this sequel, viewers see Singh’s character, now trained as Hamza Ali Mazari, navigating the complex power structures of Lyari while continuing his mission against threats to India. The film features intense confrontations and showcases a talented ensemble cast that includes R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt, enhancing the gripping storyline.
