Sukumar Shares Insight on Avatar: Fire and Ash, Praises its Emotion

Director Sukumar, known for his work on Pushpa, recently shared his thoughts on James Cameron’s highly anticipated film Avatar: Fire and Ash. Set for release on December 19, the director expressed deep admiration for Cameron’s artistic prowess, stating that watching the film evoked a range of powerful emotions within him.

In his review, Sukumar likened James Cameron to an otherworldly figure, saying, “He’s from Pandora. For directors, he’s an Avatar. We’re just humans.” He emphasized the challenge of storytelling at the level Cameron achieves in Avatar: Fire and Ash, highlighting how the film offered a captivating family viewing experience. Sukumar remarked that despite its lengthy running time of three hours and seventeen minutes, he felt completely engrossed and transported to the world of Pandora.

He also drew parallels between Avatar 3 and Telugu cinema, noting that the film’s emotional depth mirrors that of his own industry. The connections between the characters, such as Jake and Neytiri, resonated with him throughout the viewing. Sukumar noted that certain moments in the film were so poignant that they brought him to tears, showcasing the film’s ability to provide a rich theatrical experience.

Concluding his review, Sukumar urged audiences not to miss the opportunity to see the film in theaters, emphasizing that James Cameron’s cinematic visuals are designed for the big screen. “You won’t get this experience anywhere except for the theatres,” he asserted.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is the third installment in the Avatar series, following the original film released in 2009 and Avatar: The Way of Water from 2022. Following its premiere at the Dolby Theatre on December 1, excitement continues to build for its upcoming theatrical release. Notably, fellow filmmaker SS Rajamouli also shared his impressions of the film during a virtual chat with Cameron, expressing childlike wonder at the visuals and new characters introduced in this installment.
