In the interview with ANI, Sunny mentioned, “I have several films in the pipeline. One of them is Lahore 1947…though the title may change, or it might ultimately stay the same. The film is an adaptation of a celebrated stage play and is slated for a theatrical release in August.” This suggests that the creative team is still considering its options for the film’s final title.
As per the latest updates from the production team, Lahore 1947 is set to release in theatres on August 13, 2026, coinciding with the Independence Day week in India. The filmmakers are aiming for a grand release that aligns with the festive atmosphere of the holiday.
This period drama marks the first collaboration between Sunny Deol, director Rajkumar Santoshi, and producer Aamir Khan. Aamir Khan is producing the film under his banner, Aamir Khan Productions. Reflecting on the project, Aamir expressed, “This was one of the favourite scripts of Dharamji, and I am so glad he could see the film.” His statement emphasizes the film’s emotional significance and connection to legendary actor Dharmendra.
