Taapsee Pannu’s Assi Box Office Continues Strong, Surpassing ₹5 Crore

Assi Box Office Collection: Day 5 Update

“Assi,” featuring Taapsee Pannu, has garnered positive reviews since its release. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film addresses the alarming rise in sexual violence against women, with Pannu portraying a lawyer dedicated to seeking justice for a rape victim. However, box office collections have shown a decline in momentum during the weekdays.

According to the latest report from Sacnilk, “Assi” collected ₹70 lakhs on its fifth day, matching its earnings from the previous day and reflecting a stagnation in growth. The film debuted with a collection of ₹1 crore and saw a boost over the weekend, earning ₹1.6 crore on both Saturday and Sunday, bringing its total collections to ₹5.6 crore.

The film represents the third collaboration between Pannu and Sinha, following their earlier projects, “Mulk” (2018) and “Thappad” (2020). In “Assi,” Kani Kusruti plays the role of a rape survivor, while Pannu’s character is her lawyer. The narrative centers on a woman’s battle for justice in Delhi in the aftermath of a violent sexual assault, highlighting the challenges she faces within the police and judicial systems.

The ensemble cast includes notable actors such as Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Kumud Mishra, Revathi, Manoj Pahwa, Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak, and Seema Pahwa. The film is produced by T-Series alongside Sinha.

The title “Assi,” meaning 80 in Hindi, refers to the estimated 80 cases of sexual violence reported daily in India. The director emphasizes the severity of this figure, commenting on the hidden cases that often go unreported. He pointed out that the frequency of such incidents is staggering, stating, “This number in itself was so shocking when we calculated it because every 18 to 20 minutes, something like this takes place.” This grim reality underscores the film’s driving message.
