Timothée Chalamet’s Award-Winning Film Marty Supreme Set for India Release

Marty Supreme, one of the highly anticipated films of the year, is set to debut in Indian theatres. Featuring Timothée Chalamet in a pivotal role and directed by Josh Safdie, the film has quickly gained recognition as a frontrunner for awards season. Recently, Chalamet earned the Best Actor accolade at the Critics’ Choice Awards, further increasing the film’s buzz.

The release date for Marty Supreme in India is January 23, 2026, with PVRINOX Pictures handling its exclusive distribution to cinemas. The cast includes notable names such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Fran Drescher, Tyler, the Creator, and Odessa A’zion. This marks Josh Safdie’s return to directing since his collaboration with brother Benny Safdie on Uncut Gems, expanding his filmography with this unique narrative.

The film follows Marty Mauser, a young man whose dreams are dismissed by those around him. The official synopsis reveals a story about resilience and ambition, highlighting Marty’s relentless pursuit of greatness despite numerous setbacks.

In a statement reflecting on his Critics’ Choice win, Chalamet expressed gratitude towards Safdie for creating a nuanced character. He described the film as a tale of a flawed individual with universal dreams, emphasizing the importance of storytelling that resonates with audiences.

To accurately portray his character, Chalamet dedicated six to seven years training for intricate table tennis scenes, notably without the aid of a body double. After its U.S. premiere on Christmas, Marty Supreme has become a significant critical and commercial success.

Inspired by the life of renowned table tennis hustler Marty Reisman, the film’s narrative evolves from a sports drama into a thrilling exploration of ambition and obsession. It captures the vibrant undercurrent of New York City and the costs associated with the relentless chase for greatness.
