Netflix’s upcoming series “Glory” is set to make waves in the realm of sports dramas. Unveiled recently, the trailer hints at a gripping narrative that intertwines elements of family strife, rivalry, revenge, and a murder mystery within the backdrop of Indian boxing.
Helmed by creators Karan Anshuman and Karmanya Ahuja, the series features a notable cast, including Pulkit Samrat, Divyenndu, Suvinder Vicky, Jannat Zubair, and Ashutosh Rana among others. The story revolves around a family grappling with the aftermath of a violent incident affecting their daughter, Gudiya, and the enigmatic demise of a young boxing talent, Nihal Singh. Suvinder Vicky plays the role of boxing coach Raghubir Singh, while Pulkit Samrat and Divyenndu portray his sons, Ravi and Dev.
Despite its vivid depiction of Haryana’s boxing scene, Anshuman emphasized that “Glory” is purely fictional. He clarified that no particular incident inspired the plot or characters, noting, “There are many stories in Haryana. We spoke to everyone involved in the sport, and that reality is what you’ll find throughout the script.” He stressed that the narrative does not aim to reflect any political tendencies.
Divyenndu, known for his role in “Mirzapur,” described his character, Dev, as “pretty dark,” revealing the emotional intensity required to bring the role to life. He remarked on the challenges of portraying such a complex character, stating, “It was not easy to portray Dev, and every day to be that dark and hyper took a toll on me.” Pulkit Samrat expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent boxing on screen, recognizing it as a unique chance.
The trailer launch event in Mumbai was marked by an engaging boxing match where Pulkit Samrat faced professional boxer Neeraj Goyat. Samrat expressed his appreciation for the experience, acknowledging Goyat’s respect in allowing him to box for three rounds. Goyat, a three-time WBC Asia Champion, added an authentic touch to the event, highlighting the show’s connection to real boxing culture.
“Glory” is poised to debut on Netflix on May 1, promising to deliver an engaging blend of drama and sports that resonates with audiences.
