Vicky Kaushal Faces Fan Backlash Over Cringe-Worthy Wedding Jokes

Bollywood stars Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif have garnered a significant following due to their deep affection for each other. Nevertheless, a recent incident has sparked controversy online, as a video featuring Vicky making jokes about marriage at a wedding has attracted criticism.

In the controversial video, Vicky engages with the groom’s father, prompting the groom to chant the phrase, “How’s the josh?” As the crowd enthusiastically responds, he comments, “I’ve noticed that bachelors always have high energy and enthusiasm. For those of us who are married, that enthusiasm keeps dropping year after year. But don’t worry, it doesn’t fade in just four days.” The light-hearted remarks, however, did not sit well with many viewers.

After the video was shared on Reddit, various users expressed their discontent with Vicky’s jokes, labeling them as “misogynistic.” One commentator remarked, “We’re seriously STILL making misogynistic ‘marriage’ jokes in 2026? Should’ve left these on Comedy Nights with Kapil in 2016.” Concerns were raised about how such jokes, even if intended for humor, could potentially undermine a wife’s dignity and perpetuate harmful stereotypes.

Critics highlighted the implications of making fun of marriage in public. One user pointed out, “I don’t like it when men make fun of their marriage in public. It indirectly insults their wife, and it’s not funny. When people say ‘take it as a joke,’ no, it isn’t funny. It reflects problems beneath the surface.” Others echoed this sentiment, expressing disappointment in Vicky’s decision to share such material, arguing it is out of step with contemporary values.

The couple’s history is also part of the narrative surrounding Vicky and Katrina. Their romantic journey began with flirty exchanges at an award show, leading to a private courtship before their public wedding announcement. They officially tied the knot on December 9, 2021, in Udaipur, in what was described as a grand yet intimate ceremony. In November 2025, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Vihaan Kaushal, adding to their joy.

While Vicky Kaushal’s intentions may have been light-hearted, the backlash serves as a reminder of how societal attitudes towards marriage and gender roles are evolving—and how public figures are expected to adapt accordingly.
