Vijay Stands Firm Against Pressure During Censor Controversy and CBI Inquiry

Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay recently hosted a state and district-level Executive Cadre Consultation Meeting in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu. Despite the setbacks surrounding the release of his latest film, Jana Nayagan, he appeared optimistic as he engaged with his party members and introduced the newly allocated party symbol.

During the meeting, Vijay unveiled a whistle as the party’s symbol, which was enthusiastically received by the attendees. As TVK supporters whistled in excitement, the actor donned a broad smile, playfully covering his ears. This interaction set a lively tone for the event and reinforced his connection with his followers. Referencing his iconic line from the 2019 film Bigil, Vijay remarked, “Cup mukkiyam Bigil (The cup is important Bigil),” implying that he remains focused on achieving his political goals.

Vijay’s journey to this moment began with his debut as a lead actor in the 1992 film Naalaiya Theerpu. However, his latest film has faced obstacles, including delays from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and scrutiny from the CBI regarding the tragic Karur stampede that occurred during one of his rallies in September 2025, resulting in numerous casualties.

Addressing the challenges he has faced in transitioning from film to politics, Vijay stated, “For 30 years, these parties have underestimated us, but the people have given me this position at the peak of my career.” He described the forthcoming elections as a “democratic war,” emphasizing his determination to resist external pressures. “Does this face look like it would succumb to pressure?” he questioned, hinting at his intention to contest the elections independently without forging alliances.

As anticipation builds for the High Court’s upcoming verdict on January 27 concerning the censor row, there is uncertainty around the release of Jana Nayagan. The outcome may have a significant impact on Vijay’s political ambitions as he gears up for the Tamil Nadu elections.
