Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt is currently facing serious legal issues following a complaint that led to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against him in Udaipur. The case, which involves allegations of fraud related to a film project, is under investigation by local police.
According to reports from the Superintendent of Police, Yogesh Goyal, the complaint was filed by Dr. Ajay Murdia, who claims to have had an agreement with Bhatt’s production company. This agreement involved the production of several films and documentaries in memory of Murdia’s late wife. He alleges that despite making a payment and signing a contract for four films, the production company failed to deliver them as promised. Murdia asserts that only two films were produced, and those did not receive accurate attribution, while the most expensive project never commenced.
In response to the allegations, Vikram Bhatt has vehemently denied any wrongdoing. He contends that the police have been misled regarding the situation. Bhatt stated, “I read the entire FIR… I feel that the Rajasthan Police is being misled.” He emphasized that he has not received any formal communication regarding the claims and questioned the validity of the allegations, particularly the claim of a ₹30 crore scam stemming from a supposed desire for ₹200 crores.
Bhatt further challenged the complainants’ motives, referencing their previous collaborations. He pointed out that if they believed they were deceived, they would not continue to work with him, insisting there was evidence in the form of emails and contracts supporting his position.
Vikram Bhatt has had a notable career in the film industry, beginning as a teenager and later stepping into directorial roles—his first being in 1998 with the film Madhosh. He gained recognition for his work in thrillers and horror films, significantly with the Raaz and 1920 series.
His latest project, Tumko Meri Kasam, which was produced by Dr. Ajay Murdia, explores the life of the founder of Indira IVF. As investigations continue, the outcome of this case could have significant implications for Bhatt’s professional future.
